At my children’s school there was a special time every day called DEAR time:

Drop

Everything

And

Read

Everyone, from the child in kindergarten to the headmaster would stop what they were doing and grab a book. They did this every day for half an  hour. Today, March 2, is Read Across America Day, and it is a great time to restart this habit.

What will I be reading? Since my languages are English and Spanish, I picked two books in English and two books in Spanish.

In English:

  • The Peterkin Papers, by Lucretia P. Hale
  • The Complete Father Brown, by G.K. Chesterton

In Spanish:

  • Rimas, leyendas y narraciones, de Bécquer
  • Las aventuras de Tintín, de Hergé, traducido al español

I don’t know which I will read each day, but this is a lighthearted diet of books to help me relax.

Grab a book and have some DEAR time today! Remember, the quality of your translations depends on your reading…
